Why Didn’t You Tell Me?!! The 4 Things The Gurus Forgot (Part 2)

Last week I told you about the first of four things the gurus forgot
to tell you about what it’s REALLY going to take to
build a successful business.

1. You don’t have the money.

2. You’re not in the right location.

This is another way of saying, you aren’t doing what you love and what you were born to do.
For many people, turning their passion into a lifestyle and a living
is an illusion or just a dream.

To chase the dream they join different opportunities or start many different businesses
as an excuse to make money. But, they aren’t in love with what they are doing.

And it’s okay if it takes you a few tries.

It took me a few to finally LOCATE where
I was supposed to be and where I would prosper.

As long as you never quit you will find that location.

Here are two simple questions that I love to ask people,
that helps point them in the right direction.

1. If you could be ANYTHING in the world, what would you be? Let your imagination go wild.

Would it be a world famous rock star? A Movie Starlet? Oprah?

2. Then ask yourself “WHY”? Is it to affect a great number of people, to be creative,
to be heard, to have freedom? You get the point.

When you answer those questions, you’ll be surprised to find out how easy
it is to determine your WHY. It’s like peeling the layers of an onion. Just keep asking
why to get to the core.

Now, ask yourself, “Is what I’m doing now, satisfying that WHY or purpose?.”

One clue that it is…
work doesn’t feel like work.

Think about this, does eating chocolate feel like you’re on a diet.

Well, when you love what do, you can’t wait to do it.
If you go on vacation, you are itching to get back.

And if doesn’t feel like that for you,
then you need to reevaluate the industry or the
business you are in.

I just got back from a weekend retreat at Wisdom School.

I don’t even know how to describe what I experienced.

I’ve attended other seminars and events before, but this
was just unlike anything else.

And it made me mad.

Why? you ask.

I was mad because most people really have no clue
what it’s going to take to build a successful business.

They promise you slick tools and a “duplicatable”
system.

Yet that’s such a small part that no wonder most people quit.

And you want to know something.

No guru is going to tell you what it’s REALLY going to take.

So in the next couple of emails I’m going to tell you
the 4 things I wish someone had told me when I first got started.

1. You don’t have the money.
Your new idea or business is going to take money you don’t have.
You’re going to have to spend money on marketing, coaching,
training, tools, and most importantly on yourself and your self-education.

You know how often someone contacts me saying I can’t afford this or I can’t afford that.

How do you expect to build a business then? If you want something, then you can find a way to get it done. I had to borrow, sell things, cancel my cable…You just get creative.

2. You’re not in the right location.

Self-help Books Don’t Work

I was watching my kids play ‘house’ the other day and my daughter was talking to her brother and saying and mimicking the things she sees ME do and say. She doesn’t read yet, so how do you think she learned that?

Obviously not from reading a book.  She was modeling her environment.

Wow. Kinda of freaky. It’s a huge responsibility for parents but at the same time, it’s a great opportunity to model the positive behavior and thinking you want them to have.

So why don’t self help books work? Because “self help” and awareness training rarely includes the ENVIRONMENT where you can demonstrate what you are learning.

See, most people don’t have a working model of prosperity.

All they have is a model of work itself. Sound familiar?

“Go to school, pay attention, be a good student, get a job, get back in line.”

This is the PROFOUND magic of a true MASTER-MIND.

Because it is here that possibly for the FIRST time in many people’s lives, they ‘DO’ and ‘ARE’ with

others who actually agree with them and who ride right along you,

in a world where most people are “asleep” and try to steal your dreams and focus.

The key is to “I AM” or “BE” all over whatever you THINK you are,

and to actually get AHEAD of wherever you ultimately want to go.

In other words, you can’t wait to do certain things or take action when

you are the leader to thousands, when you have the exotic cars in the garage,

when you sponsor someone, or when you get paid first.

You have to BE that person NOW.   You have to THINK and ACT like someone with those things NOW.

MLM Guru’s Exposed

Be careful who you take advice from.

Why?

Well, have you ever heard the saying, “Those that can’t do, teach.”

My question to most of the so-called MLM Guru’s is:

“If your techniques, tips and insider secrets you charge so much money for work so well, why aren’t you doing them yourself?”

Some so-called MLM Guru’s don’t have a $10,000+ a month MLM check coming from
their primary program. In fact, many got lucky and made $10,000 a month for a few months
and then it fell apart.

Plus, many of them have STOLEN the information that they have re-packaged
and now sell to you and your downline!”

Like a “thief in the night”, these MLM Guru’s are stealing your downline.

They’re also stealing your check.

Now, I have no problem with MLM Guru’s who built a 6-figure check and
just don’t want to do it anymore and are still cashing their checks.

I’m not talking about them today.

I’m hitting those over the head with a hammer who NEVER built
a 6-figure income check in any MLM program, (or, they did for just a moment in time),
yet they strut around like a Peacock selling, books, tapes, and seminars revealing the “SECRET” to you.

BULL****!

Their secret is to sell information.

Their secret is this:

“THEY TELL YOU WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR!”

The difference between their teaching and mine is subtle,
but hugely significant for your long term success:

“I TELL YOU WHAT YOU NEED TO HEAR!”

One subtle word in difference.

WANT vs. NEED

Want to hear.

Need to hear.

Huge Difference!

Yet, it creates years and years and millions of dollars in difference for you.

Lost income if you follow their advice.

Temporary income if you follow their advice.

Thousands spent on adwords that don’t pull in orders if you follow their advice.

I love that everyone is running around saying:

“Brand Yourself”

“Generate Your Own Leads”

“Don’t Follow Leaders…Be a Leader”

Boy, after 25 years in this business I WANT TO HEAR ALL THAT!

I WISH IT WERE TRUE.

But, the sad fact, it’s not true.

It’s NEVER going happen.

Let me spend a few moments uncovering those GURU’s trendy words and sales copy here for you:

#1 BRAND YOURSELF

I totally agree.

But, 99% of your downline will never want to be branded.

They don’t know how to do it.

They won’t stay in long enough to do it.

They don’t have the budget to do it.

And, to BRAND YOURSELF you have to do something worthy of being branded…which only 1% will ever do.

Read that again….

I’ll wait…

Seriously, go back and read that sentence again…

(Jeaopardy music playing while I’m waiting for you…

Ta da, da, da,

Ta da, da

Ta, da, da, da,

da, da, da, da, da, ra)

Done? Good.

I just gave you a GOLDEN secret.

Here it goes again…

“You have to do something worthy of being branded.”

Do you know what that something is?

I do.

It’s the same secret Barbara Streisand used to become an ICON.

It’s the same one I’m using.

If you haven’t figured it out… stay tuned.

So, are this gurus selling their courses to just the 1% who know how to do this?

No, they are selling their courses to the 99% who want to become the 1%, but never will.

They will never take action!

The last action they will EVER take is ordering the Guru’s course.

The course arrives, they shove it in the corner and go about their lives.

And, in about 4 weeks, they go online and buy another Guru’s course saying the first one doesn’t work.

Yet, they never cracked open the box it arrived in.

Or, if they did read or listen to it, they don’t put a consistent, reliable and common sense game plan together.

The masses will NEVER do it.

They will never stay in long enough to brand themselves.

I know that, and every Guru knows that.

Yet, they feel it’s okay to sell courses that promote something that will never happen.

They are selling you things you want to hear, plain and simple.

#2 Generate Your Own Leads

I just love this one.

How many people in your downline know how to write Attention Pulling Ad Copy?

Enough said.

I offer the brass ring of generating leads and branding to those that want to reach up and grab it.
But what about those that don’t or won’t do what it takes?

I sell them leads. It would be dumb not to.

What’s the alternative? Tell them to go bump into people at the mall or rewrite their list of 100 names?
Come on? Use your common sense.

The leads aren’t the problem. It’s how you were told to pitch, pitch, pitch.

Besides, even it you generate your own leads, you still need to learn how MARKET to them.

And this is what marketing IS and IS NOT.

** Marketing is NOT selling.
** Marketing is sharing.
** Marketing is NOT selling.
** Marketing is gaining trust.
** Marketing is NOT selling.
** Marketing is about teaching.
** ABOUT preparing the consumer to buy.
** GETTING the consumer EXCITED.
** Marketing is NOT selling.
